Dr. Jerek Petrous, a Southeast Michigan native, completed his undergraduate work at the University of Detroit Mercy as a biology major in his three years of study. After which, he continued his studies at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry to receive his dental degree, finishing among the top of his class. He returned to the University for a 2-year full-time residency program in orthodontics obtaining his Orthodontic Specialty Certificate. During his orthodontic residency, he completed additional study and original research to earn a Post-Doctoral Master’s of Science degree. Dr. Petrous’ research interests express the passion he has for bringing orthodontic treatment to those who are less fortunate.
Always eager to learn, Dr. Petrous attends numerous continuing education courses each year keeping him current of the latest trends and techniques in the field of orthodontics. Dr. Petrous is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and is an active member of several well-known national organizations including the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.
Dr. Petrous has been featured in several local, state-wide and international publications including the Journal of the Michigan Dental Association, the Macomb Dental Society Newsletter and the Leading Edge. Dr. Petrous was also featured on the cover of the international trade magazine OrthoTown which highlighted Dr. Petrous’ devotion to his patients, his commitment to providing a higher standard of care and service, and his charitable work throughout Metro Detroit. In addition, Dr. Petrous has been recognized by his dental community peers as a “Top Orthodontist” in the Metro Detroit region in the well-known magazine Hour Detroit for the past 5 years in a row.
Dr. Petrous has a heart for serving others whether it be locally in the Detroit area, or as part of medical/dental teams throughout the world. In his free time, Dr. Petrous enjoys spending time with his best friend and wife Lauren. Together they love exploring the Detroit restaurant scene (as hard core foodies), traveling and experiencing culture, and serving with their church community. Dr. Petrous speaks Spanish and a bit of Arabic, has a deep rooted passion for studying Philosophy and Apologetics, and is a die-hard Detroit Lions fan.
