Retainer Instructions – Braces

How to take care of your retainer

RETAINER WEAR IS ESSENTIAL TO MAINTAIN YOUR BEAUTIFUL SMILE

To keep your smile at its best, you must wear retainer instructions to preserve your results. Retainers are needed to limit changes in tooth position after your treatment ends. All retainers are custom-made for each patient and can be removable or glued in.

TYPES OF RETAINERS

Removable Retainers

Hawley Retainers

Hawleys, also known as a “traditional retainers” typically include a metal wire that surrounds the front teeth, which is attached to an acrylic arch that rests in the palate and/or tongue space. Thesewires may need to be adjusted over time to improve the fit.
