Invisalign For Adults & Teens
How does Invisalign work?
So it all starts with an easy digital scan to create a 3D model of your mouth. Dr. Petrous will carefully craft a precise, customized treatment plan specific to your mouth, including the exact path each of your teeth will travel to align your bite and smile based on the goals that you will discuss ahead of time with Dr. Petrous.
Invisalign treatment consists of a series of clear aligners custom-made for you. You will wear each tray for 1 week, aiming for 20 hours per day. This means that you can take them out up to 4 hours each day. Each individual tray causes your teeth to gently and gradually move according to the plan that Dr. Petrous creates.
Invisalign is...
Discreet.
Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible. Most people won't even notice you're wearing them. Special occasion coming up? No problem — just take your aligners out for that time and pop them back in when you’re ready.
Comfortable.
Your Invisalign aligners are made of soft, flexible, BPA free plastic, which means you won't experience mouth or gum irritation. Invisalign moves teeth gently and gradually-- no sudden tightenings.
removable.
Invisalign aligners are fully removable. You take them out to brush and floss, which means you don't have to worry about navigating around brackets and wires. You also take them out to eat! Hard, sticky, or chewy foods? Not a problem. You can eat all your favorites throughout treatment.
convenient.
Invisalign minimizes disruptions to your schedule. With Invisalign, you will have far fewer in-office visits compared to braces. We’ll assign a concierge to you and will be able to check in with you virtually every week to ensure there are no issues with your treatment as you switch to a new tray at home every week.
Effective.
Invisalign has helped over 15 million patients achieve the smile of their dreams. It’s reliable and research backed, and includes simulators and mapping software that let our doctors see your bite and ways to correct it from every angle. From SmartForce material to Precision Wings to customized attachments designed by our doctors, with Invisalign, we have the tools we need to create optimal results for you.
easy to clean.
We'll talk through with you how best to care your aligners, but it'll be a short conversation! Because they're fully removable, it's easy to gently clean your aligners each day.

Common Questions About Invisalign
A common misconception is that Invisalign is just a product and the results are the same no matter where you go. This couldn’t be more false! The end results you achieve with Invisalign are completely dependent on WHO is doing the treatment. Invisalign by itself is just plastic. The quality of the results come from the expertise and planning from the treating doctor behind the scenes. Some doctors may dabble in Invisalign and may result in average results. Dr. Petrous is an expert in Invisalign and is a sought after teacher for orthodontists around the country helping others to learn his treatment planning techniques. If you choose our office for your Invisalign, you are in the best possible hands.
Another common misconception we hear is that braces can do things that Invisalign can't or vice versa. We don't treat our patients in a cookie-cutter way. So there are certain cases where braces are better than Invisalign, and many cases where Invisalign is actually better than braces. We handpick our recommendations for our patients based on what is best for your treatment goals and your lifestyle. The advantages to Invisalign are that it's more comfortable, more aesthetic, and you get the same great results with fewer office visits.

Outside of the huge “corporate-chain” offices and multiple location offices, Dr. Petrous treats more Invisalign patients then anyone in the entire state of Michigan. His experience is not just some vague promise, it is second to none, meaning our experience with Invisalign is unparalleled and the quality of your results will be top notch.
There are many factors that determine the cost of your Invisalign treatment: how extensive the issues are that you want/need corrected, how long your recommended treatment will take, and the specific treatment details prescribed by the doctor. Many people are surprised to learn that the cost of Invisalign is the same (or sometimes less) then the cost of traditional braces.
Also, if you have an orthodontic insurance benefit, your benefit will cover braces and Invisalign equally. Invisalign is also FSA, HSA, and HRA eligible. At Petrous Orthodontics, we offer customized payment plans to meet your needs, and we're here to help you figure out how to make Invisalign, financially attainable.
