Keep Invisalign in a Safe Place
One problem that patients often run into while living with Invisalign is that the trays are small and clear, making them easy to misplace. Always remember to keep your clear aligners somewhere safe after removing them (e.g., a case or a bag). Dr. Petrous and Dr. Marx further stress that you not wrap your clear aligners in a napkin when taking them out to eat. Many patients think this is a good place for them, but tend to forget and end up accidentally tossing the napkin out! Additionally, if you have pets at home, make sure your clear aligners are always high up and out of their reach, as the plastic material may be appealing for them to chew on or play with. If you do misplace your Invisalign aligners, be sure to contact Petrous Orthodontics immediately.
Remove Invisalign to Eat and Drink
Again, one of the great benefits of Invisalign is that it can be removed. And Dr. Petrous and Dr. Marx wants patients to take advantage of this! Always take your Invisalign trays out for eating. Leaving them in can lead to staining and/or distortion of shape. Remember, they are made of plastic!
Clean Your Invisalign Thoroughly and Properly
To keep your Invisalign invisible clean them correctly and completely. We at Petrous Orthodontics believe that patients should clean their clear aligners at least twice a day just like their teeth (preferably after meals). Dr. Petrous and Dr. Marx recommend purchasing a small, baby toothbrush, and brushing the insides of the aligners softly with just a tiny drop of toothpaste. Another method that many of our Sterling Heights, MI patients find easy is soaking the clear aligners in denture cleaner. Either method will do the job!
Wear Invisalign as Directed
Being able to remove this system is cool, but don’t forget to wear the Invisalign trays 22 hours a day and follow the series. This is the most important part.
